O Lord Vasudeva riding on Garuda! Please protect me with compassion.

Anupallavi

parulanna māṭala tāḷanu
1paramātmuḍu parama dayāḷō (garuḍa)
O Supreme Lord who is most merciful! I cannot tolerate the words uttered by others.

Charanam

drupada sutāyibha rājuḍu
dhruva bāluḍu moraliḍa vini
grakkuna veḍalina muccaṭa
grammiti tyāgarāja nuta (garuḍa)
I swelled hearing about the story of Your proceeding quickly as Draupadi – daughter of King Drupada, Gajendra – king of elephants and child Dhruva entreated You; O Lord praised by this Thyagaraja!

  • This Kriti is believed to be not written by Sri Thyagaraja, but sung by certain lineage of disciples of Sri Thyagaraja.
  • 1paramātmuḍu – While the whole Kriti is in second person, this word is in third person.
