Why, O Lord Krishna! Why this obstinacy with me? O Lord Krishna!

ēlarā ī bādha tāḷa
jālarā daya jūḍa nī(kēlarā)
Why? I am unable to bear this trouble; why do You have this obstinacy with me in showing grace?

1. O Beloved of Lakshmi! Is it a burden to protect me? Is there any fault on me who has believed You? Is it any distance if You consider me this way? Is it majestic for You?


2. O Lord bereft of attachments! O Connoisseur of music! O bestower of fruits of sacrificial oblations, asceticism and Enjoyment! O Recliner on the couch of Sesha – the serpent! O Lord praised by Garuda – the enemy of serpents! O Lord worshipped by the very hands of this Thyagaraja!
