śrīdādi madhyānta rahita sītā samēta guṇākara nē-(nē dāri) | O Bestower of Prosperity! One without a beginning, middle or end! O Lord united with Sita! One endowed with all virtues! |
Charanam
anni tānanu mārgamuna canaga tannu vīḍanu1 bhāramani yāḍedavu nannu brōvu dāsa varada yaṇṭē dvaituḍanedavu tyāgarāja nuta (yē dāri) | If I follow the path of Advaita, You say that it is difficult to overcome ego; if I pray ‘please protect me, O bestower of boons to devotees’, You say that I am a Dvaitin. One praised by Thyagaraja! |
Commentary
- 1tannu vīḍanu – to overcome ego. The difficulty in pursuing the path of Advaita is brought out in Srimad Bhagavat Gita, Chapter 12, Verse 5.
- “Greater is their trouble whose minds are set on the Unmanifested; for the goal of the Unmanifested is very hard for the embodied to reach.”
