dēvi śrī tuḷasamma brōcuṭak- idē samayamamma māyamma | O Devi! O Mother Sri Tulasi! O Our mother! O Mother, this indeed is the opportune moment to protect me (us). |
Anupallavi
pāvani brahmēndrādulu nī bhakticē vilasilliraṭa mahā(dēvi) | O The Holy One (Or Purifier)! It is said that Brahma, Indra and others shone because of devotion to You; O the Great Devi! |

nīvu lēka 1śaṅkaru mā ramaṇuḍu 2nīrajādulanollaraṭa nīvu lēka 3tīrthamu sēviñcuṭa nīranucu pērāyenaṭa nīvu lēka 4trāsuna śrī hari sari nilvaka 5pōyenaṭa 6nīvu lēka vanamālayani palikirā nī sariyevvarē tyāgarāja nuta mahā(dēvi) | (a) It is said that without You, Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu - Consort of Lakshmi - do not like (other) flowers like lotus etc; (b) it is said that sanctified water, served (or partaken) without You, is called as water only - (it is not sanctified water); (c) it is said that without You nothing could measure equal to Lord Sri Hari on the scale; (d) without You did anyone call a garland as 'Vanamala'? who is equal to You, O Mother praised by this Thyagaraja! O Great Devi! |
Variations
- 1śaṅkaru – śaṅkari
- 2nīrajādulunollaraṭa – nīrajādulanollaḍaṭa - If ‘śaṅkaru’ is correct, then ‘ollaraṭa’ is correct; however, if 'śaṅkari' is correct, then ‘ollaḍaṭa’ would be correct.
- 5pōyenaṭa – bāsenaṭa : bāsenaṭa - is not correct.
