Commentary

  • 1nāda praṇava – though this may be taken as separate words, Sri Thyagaraja seems to mean ‘NadOMkAra’. This is more so in view of the ensuing words ‘sapta svara’ which emanate from Nada Brahmam. Please also refer to kRti ‘rāga sudha rasa pānamu’ – rāga āndōḷika.
  • 2śrīmadādi tyāgaraāja nutuni – It is not clear whether the word ‘tyāgarāja’ means Lord Siva (Tiruvarur). At ‘Thirukkarayil’ (Thirukkaravasal), the Lord is known as ‘Adi Thyagaraja’ or ‘Adi Vidangar’
