[Gopis among themselves] Let us damsels play together, requesting Hari (to join).

Charanams

1.

kṛṣṇuḍu jūḍaga manamu jala-krīḍa salpa mañci dinamu kṛṣṇuḍu jūḍaga manamu jala krīḍa-salpa mañci dinamu

[Gopis, among themselves] It is a nice day for us to frolic in water, as Krishna watches.

2.

kamala nētruni bāsi sukhamā ōḍa gaṭṭu jērpa mana taramā kamala-nētruni bāsi sukhamā ōḍa gaṭṭu-jērpa mana taramā

Is it comforting to be separated from the Lotus-eyed one? Is it in our capacity to get the boat to the shore?

3.

rāja kumāruḍu vīḍu nava ratna sommulu peṭṭināḍu rājakumāruḍu vīḍu nava-ratna sommulu peṭṭināḍu

He is a prince; He has worn ornaments studded with precious stones.

4.

pasi biḍḍa kādaṭavammā vīḍu bhayapaḍunō teliyadammā pasi biḍḍa kādu-aṭa ammā vīḍu bhayapaḍunō teliyadu ammā

It seems he is not a small child; We don’t know whether He would be afraid.

5.

tallitō cāḍi palukudurē mana talalu vañca2 dūrudurē tallitō cāḍi-palukudurē mana talalu-vañca2 dūrudurē

People will back-bite about us with His mother; people will slander us to make us bow our heads in shame.

6.

māṭaku cōṭaunu3 kāni mana āṭalu teliyaka pōni māṭaku cōṭu-aunu3 kāni mana āṭalu teliyaka-pōni

It will give room for ridicule; yet may our play not be known to the world.

7.

yuvatulārā mīlōnē mīru yōcimpa proddu poyyenu4 yuvatulārā mī-lōnē-mīru yōcimpa proddu poyyenu4

[Krishna to the girls] O damsels! As you keep pondering among yourselves, time is passing away.

8.

cālu cāliṭu rārammā ōḍa salilamandu tōyarammā (ā) cālu-cālu iṭu rārammā ōḍa salilamu-andu tōyarammā (ā)

Enough of it! Come here and push the boat into the water.

tyāgarājāptuḍu vīḍu vanitala māṭalu vina lēḍu tyāgarāja āptuḍu vīḍu vanitala māṭalu vina-lēḍu (ā)

[Gopis, to themselves] He is a friend of Thyagaraja; [So] he doesn’t listen to the words of damsels.
